Ketel One Vodka enjoys a rich history, steeped in family bonds and Europe origin. The company, created and still run by the Nolet family, began in 1691 in Schiedam, Holland. For nearly 300 years, the family perfected the distilling process by producing the Dutch spirit known as Jenever. In 1971, 10 generations later, Carolus Nolet Snr, spent some significant time in America and realized that his family business could produce Vodka that could teach the American market a thing or two. Aided, helpfully, by notes and lessons learned over the previous 300 years, Ketel One was created. The family aspect is nearly unique within the industry and the copper stills that are still used, were the original stills used 325 years ago The secret to the Notel families success has been to keep the traditional method of using coal-fired, copper stills, which require frequent stirring by hand but to use it in conjunction with modern column distilling methods.
